Hello everyone! I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite artists on DeviantArt: :iconaoiitsuki::bademoticon:

I met aoiitsuki recently through a friend in this Skype group we were added too. It was for our secret project that we're currently working on and I have admired her for awhile and needless to say I was excited to finally be able to talk one on one with her. After, talking to her shes as sweet and pretty as her art!

Sorry this is my first time interviewing someone so bare with me please (laughs). To start off why don't you tell me about yourself and something no one knows about you.
I'm left handed //laughs
Uhhhm... I'm really open on the internet, so it's hard to say something that nobody knows about me!
Oops, I forgot something! Hi!!! My name is Chu/Vani!

You're really silly Vani! So when did you first start drawing, and what program do you use to draw?
Technically, I've been drawing since I was a kid... But I didn't really care to get better as an artist until I was around 9. I had this friend who was a really good artist and she drew in this style that reminds me of Bratz dolls (are those even in production anymore?? lmao) I actually started copying her style, and she would yell at me and ultimately stopped being my friend for a time for stealing her drawing style (lmfao;;; this sounds familiar)
But I've gone down my own path since.
As for programs, Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop CS6.

Your poor friend(laughs). Could you tell us a bit about your style and what led you to start drawing in that style in particular?
When I got into middle school, I had a friend who checked out a Chris Hart book from the school library. And theeeeeeere it goes (laughs)
.
.
.
Just kidding. No but really, that did happen. It led me onto drawing anime and manga art. Eventually, I got onto DA and got influenced by a whole bunch of different artists. The style that I used in the Madoka picture is loosely based off of Clavies. I spent a while drawing eyes like hers on paper during class and trying to form it into a style of my own. I guess style stealing just runs in my veins (lmfao;;; )

It's okay. Everyone has done it before even if they don't admit it (laughs). You can see how much work you've put into developing your own style now though. When you draw, do you plan everything out first, or do you just see where the drawing takes you?
Usually, I'll have just a word in mind for the picture, or a feeling or thought that I want to convey. I'll keep the thought/word/feeling in mind for the whole picture and just ride it out! Or... Draw it out? (awkward laugh) Otherwise, there's not prior planning at all.

On average, how long do you spend on a drawing then?
I used to think that I spent 5 hours on most of my pictures, but when I was working on commissions and works that I don't upload, I noticed that I actually spent around 2 to 3 days! Weird how time flies...
On one picture, I spent a whole 3 months on it. It was really stressful.

But in the end, was it worth it spending so much time on one picture?
I'm not so sure... The one that I stressed over, ended up not looking the best it could have. It's one of my least favorite pieces, actually. I think it's because I stressed so much about it. However, the recent ones that I spent 3 days on, I am proud of them.

What would you say your inspirations for drawing is?
I don't really have, to say, a specific inspiration. It's like... I've always had this urge to draw, and I felt like it was something I needed to do.

Do you have any artists that you look up to?
Absolutely! I really look up to Naoko Takeuchi more than anything.

Takeuchi Naoko Sailor Moo by xoxoKymmi

What is your favorite piece that you've drawn?

This picture is still my favorite. It's outdated now, so I plan to redraw it. I actually did the sketch and lineart in a few hours, but had to leave it behind for a whole month because I was going on vacation. The whole vacation I was really really sad that I couldn't work on it...

Wow that looks amazing! Is there a piece of advice that you know now, which you didn't know when you started drawing or any tips for aspiring artists?
Do not learn from Chris Hart. Learn from somebody else.

But his art is so good! (laughs) Any other tips?
When people say to learn proportions and anatomy, they tell the truth. Do not skimp on this, because you will regret it in the future... Possibly.

Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Even if you are unsure of your ability, take the time to put forth all of your effort into one picture and add as many details as you can possibly manage. That's a challenge!

Thank you so much for allowing us to get to know you a little bit better! Good luck with your future endeavors!!
Thanks for interviewing me, Kymmi! :bademoticon:  I hope people find this useful!
